Paying your rent
How to pay your rent and what to do if you are having difficulty paying.
Ways to pay
You can pay your rent in the following ways:
- Paying-in book: Every tenant receives a paying-in book at the start of their tenancy. This can be taken to your bank or building society to pay your rent by cash or cheque.
- Standing Order or BACS transfer: Payments can be made to the co-operative’s bank account. Please obtain the current bank details directly from the office.
When paying by bank transfer, the payment reference should include the first line of your address so that the payment can be allocated correctly.
For members who receive Universal Credit, contributions towards rent are included as part of the Universal Credit payment. You will therefore need to use one of the methods above to make your rent payment to the co-operative.
If you are having difficulty paying
It is important that members pay their rent regularly and, where possible, keep their rent accounts in credit. We recognise that members may sometimes have difficulty paying their rent.

Rent and service-charge reviews
Rent increases and service-charge increases are reviewed annually by the Management Committee of the co-operative. Government rules limit the maximum rent increase. The committee may recommend an increase below that maximum.
Service charges are set according to the costs of providing services and maintaining the estate.
