Small Heath Park Housing Co-operative
Allocations and tenant transfers
How available homes are allocated and how existing tenants can apply for a transfer.
Allocating our homes
There is a high demand for housing at Small Heath Park Housing Co-operative and properties rarely become available.
We operate waiting lists for each property type:
- one-bedroom ground-floor flats;
- one-bedroom upper-floor flats;
- two-bedroom bungalows;
- two-bedroom houses; and
- three-bedroom houses.
Applicants are placed on the relevant waiting list based on the type of property they are applying for.
When a property becomes available, applicants on the relevant waiting list are reviewed by a selected vetting committee made up of members of our core management committee.
The choice of successful applicant depends on a range of factors. Housing need is a primary consideration, alongside matters that may include physical and mental health, current living conditions, the need to relocate to be close to relatives, and willingness to participate in the running of the co-operative. These are examples rather than an exhaustive list. Our vetting team considers applicants fairly and evenly against thorough criteria.

Existing tenant transfers
The co-operative also accepts applications from existing members who wish to transfer to another property on the estate. Transfer application forms can be requested from the office during working hours.
Transfer applications are reviewed alongside new tenant applications when a suitable property type becomes available.
